Here are my 2 Walgreens trips, once on Wednesday and again on Thursday

Oh how I hate using coupons at Walgreens!!!! This trip was a disaster! I didn't plan ahead so its all my fault. I heard that people were having trouble getting their jingle cash when they spent $25 when they used coupons so I didn't even try for that, I didn't want any hassle. hahaha. In the long run I should have just rang it up all together and saved my jingle cash for next week.
First transaction I bought the activ on and goodys hair ties. The store display for jingle cash had the wrong goodys on it so of course I bought the wrong one and the jingle cash didn't come out! So I returned them and got the new ones and got my $2 jingle cash. I thought I would pay for my second transaction with my $8.00 jc from the activ on....dummy me, my second transaction should have only been about $4.00. This is where things went really wrong, lol. I gave the cashier all my coupons, two of the $2.00 bics didn't ring up and I didn't catch it, so my total came to $7 something....I'm still thinking of using that $8 jc so I start to panic when I need to come up with an item for .60 cents so I grab the closest thing which was a little match box car for $1.29. I figured it will start my collection for next Christmas. So I used my $8.00 jingle cash and payed $1.35 oop. When I got to my car I noticed the mistake mentioned above about the goodies so I had to run back in, got that fixed and went home. Well at about 2:30 am I woke up thinking way did I spent so much money? LOL, so I got up and looked over my receipt and that's when I noticed the other $4.00 in coupons didn't go through. UGH! Now I can't get back to sleep worrying over how will I get my $4.00 back! LOL
So when the sun comes up I head to Walgreens to see what they say....I was going right past there on my way to Publix anyway so why not try. After a few questions and asking another supervisor and saying something about coupon fraud they gave me a $4.00 walgreens card....was all that worth it ????? I got my credit and did some more shopping.
oh and this trip was $11.47 OOP and got $2 jingle
UPDATE: Here is what I purchased:
1 goody hair ties $2.00 and got back $2.00 in register rewards/jingle cash
1 activ on joint pain relief $7.99 got $8.00 jc
4 bic razors (bonus packs) bogo $3.99 used 4 $2.00 mq = free...after going back!
2 jello 2/$1 after in ad coupon
2 oranges and 1 mushroom .39 cents each after in ad coupon
2 milky ways $1.59, used .81 wq and .50/2 IP = .14 cents each
2 blistex .99 cents each, used $1.00 mq = .49 cents ea
1 hot wheels car $1.29

Here is what I got on my second trip:

To feed my frustrations I get 4 big bags of peanut M & Ms on sale for $2.50, used 2  $1/2 mq & the $4 credit.  paid $4.65 and got back $5.00 in jingle cash.
Second transaction:
2 eggs .99 cents each, used .55/2 IP = .72 cents ea
3 butter, rain check for $1.99 ea
2 Toblerone $1.50 ea, used $1 wq and $1 mq = free (I just noticed that I paid $1.50. there was a sign that said 2/$2 on the Toblerone even though its advertised for $1.50. I guess I didn't get them free! If you bought these check the expiration date, mine had a date of August 2010!!!!)
1 activ on, $7.99 got back $8 jingle cash
1 goodies hair ties $2 got $2 jingle cash
OOP 13.39, Got $10 jingle cash
I really need to write things down and slow down while shopping and really pay attention when the cashier rings things up!!! After almost a year of using coupons I still need lots of help and patience!
Can you give me any tips on how you play the drug store game?

second trip to Publix 12/13

Sorry there is no picture for this shopping trip. My camera didn't want to work! Maybe Santa will bring me a new one :)
Yesterday I didn't have much going on so I decided to go back to Publix to pick up some more chicken and a few other things that I needed.
I found the Noche Buena coupon booklet, there was a big stand up display of them when I walked in! I was able to use two coupons out of it on this trip.
Here is what I purchased:
No coupons used for hot dog buns, yo plus yogurt and yellow onions
1 Angel soft toilet tissue 12 rolls on sale for $5.49, used $1.50 mq from NB booklet = $3.99
1- 3M command hooks $3.39, used $1.50mq from winter family savings booklet = $1.89 (I use these to hang our stockings from our fireplace mantel)
2- 4way Nasal spray $3.99 ea, used $5/2  pq and 2 $1.00 mq = $1.02 Money Maker
1- Swiss Miss cocoa $1.99, used $1.00 Pq & $1.99 IP (both were when you purchased reddi wip) = free
1- Reddi Wip topping $2.39, used .50cent IP & $1.00 pq = .89 cents ( I didn't realize until just now that I got the smaller can of Reddi wip, the coupon says 14 oz. and I purchased 7 oz.). I had a cup of cocoa & whipped topping for breakfast, it was so tasty! I am glad I saved a few coupons for next week when the cocoa goes on bogo sale.
1 - Breakstone sour cream $1.50 used .55 mq = .95. Goes on sale next week. I need to stock up!
2- Vanity fair napkins bogo, used $1.00/2 mq from the NB booklet = .65 each. I also picked up a rain check for the 100 count napkins and grabbed another Noche Buena booklet on my way out, so I will be able to save on napkins again next week if they are in stock.
4- small packs of boneless chicken breast  on sale for $1.99 lb, no coupons = $15.42
2- Emerald whole cashews $5.79 ea, used bogo raincheck & 2 $1.00 mq = $1.90
2 - 7-UP 2 liters .99 ea, used 2 $2.00 off pq ( all the trimmings booklet) when you buy the cashews = $2.02 Money Maker. I really saved by getting the raincheck since I didn't have any of the extra coupons at the time. My only mistake was that the raincheck was for 2 deals, 4 cashews, and I only bought 2. I even had the extra 7 up coupons. I hate when I do that! These cashews are my husbands favorite too!
Overall I saved $45.54 and spent $31.55 or 59%. If you don't count the items that I didn't have coupons for it would have been 91%!!!

Thanksgiving CVS shop - Saved $102.62 -

This morning my husband and I were at CVS by 7 am. We were the first ones in the store for the sale!!! My store had a special display for most all of the free items, shopping was so easy!!!! We each used our own cards. All together we spent $25 oop, saved $102.62 and got back $52.46 in ecb to use by Christmas!!!!! I think we had had $18 ecb to start. I forgot to tell my husband to check his email for the $5 off $25 coupon and we only used 2 listerene coupons so we could have saved another $6.00 and I didn't have any coupons for the candy or the xtra. We could have saved some out of pocket money by doing more transactions but we hate doing that. I did two transactions and Robert did 3. For all the coupon matchups I used simplycvs.

Thursday morning shopping

Today I made a bunch of different stops while out grocery shopping.
First I went to Winn Dixie
This weeks deal was if you buy the Charmin you get the lysol, tissues, zest and clorox wipes free. I use all that stuff so I thought it was a good deal for me. Most weeks I don't buy the deal because its just junk food! The lettuce was bogo $1.69. The only coupon I used was for the right guard deodorant. It was bogo and I had a bogo coupon, making them both free! These will be donated since my hubby likes old spice deodorant. I spent$15.87 and saved $19.33.
Next stop..Publix

Yes that's right...I bought 6 turkeys! They were only .59 cents a pound! I love turkey, so every month for the next six months I will eat one! LOL. They only weigh about 10 pounds each, so that will be perfect for the two of us. Dinner one night and then turkey soup and sandwiches for lunch the rest of the week. I might go back and see if they have a bigger one later in the week for Thanksgiving. Today all they had was 10 lbs or 20 lbs. I need one about 15 lbs. or maybe I will buy a butterball. Total cost for all 6 was only $36 and as you can see I have a huge chest freezer to put them in. Here is what else I purchased:
I forgot to write down my coupons that I used :(
I know I had $5/$50 publix coupon and a coupon for everything else purchased! I spent $60 including the turkeys for a savings of $84.59 or 58%
For all the coupon match ups check out Iheartpublix.com

The tape was $2.19 bogo and I had a $1/3 IP = .85 cents each

Dip was $2.00 bogo and I had 2 IP for .50 = .50 cents.

2nd Publix trip Spent only .61 cents Saved 98%

I had to go to the dentist yesterday so I knew I would be driving by another Publix this week. This store takes target coupons so I saved some of the deals for this store.
I paid only .61 cents for all of this! I saved $34.70 or 98%.
Here is what I got and the coupons used:
I am happy to finally find some garden delight pasta on the shelves. I had two bogo rain checks for two deals each and 7 $1.00 off blinkie coupons, making it a .16 cent money maker.
The smart balance was only .59cents after a $2.00 mq and $1 pq.
Country crock was .35 cents after bogo and a $1.00 target coupon.
 Vitamin D was  $2.02 money maker after 2 $1.00mq and $6.00pq.
Both toaster strudels were free after bogo and free mq. ( I know, I know more junk food but come on ...its Boston cream pie flavor! lol. All I could think of when seeing these was an eclair and I was hungry !)
Muir glen tomato sauce  was a .22 money maker after pq and whole foods q.
Lettuce was .69 cents after $1 target produce coupon.
Rubbermaid containers just .76 cents after 40%off sale and $1mq. These were a small mm on Thursday but the coupon from the green flyer expired. I paid .28 cents tax.

Walgreens 11/8 Saved 88%

I stopped at two different Walgreens yesterday. I paid $3.72 and saved $28.48. One of my reach coupons beeped so I lost out on that $1.00 but thats ok I still did great!

I had been saving up my reach dental floss coupons, I use a ton of that stuff!

I used a ton of coupons, for all the match ups I used Iheartpublix and addictedtosaving. I saved $38.43 in vendor coupons, $12 in publix coupons and $52.66 in sale prices.
I will be donating the os-cal and vivarin, they were both money makers! I am also hoping to donate some of the toaster strudels, they were all FREE. The cookie mix was only .10 cents a box so I will save those for the holidays. I purchased the large rubbermaid containers to put the cookies in. They were suppose to be on sale but the larger ones didn't ring up sale price, I will have to take my receipt back for a refund. They are 40% off and I had a publix coupon and a manufacturer coupon. The smaller size was a .09 cent money maker. The gingerbread graham crackers was an impulse buy but at least they were on sale bogo and I had a mq. They sounded really good :)
Here are some of the prices that I paid after coupons: Hood milk was only .80 cents each, chicken broth .50 cents, steam veggies .95 cents, fiesta grilln beans .67 cents, soup .90 cents, coffee mate .50 cents, bread sticks .79, dip n sticks $1.09, canned veggies .38, yogurt $1.38.

CVS shop & show 11/1

This is what I purchased this week at CVS on 11/1. I wasn't going to shop at the drug stores this week but I got talked into it by my blogging buddy Cheryl over at Simply CVS! (lol, just joking Cheryl).
I used two different CVS cards and did two transactions.

Transaction #1: I purchased the Olay body wash and Secret.
I used $5.00 mq and $1.00 extra buck for a total of $3.09 oop.
I received a $3.00 extra care coupon for any Revlon cosmetic and $3.00 extra bucks!

Transaction #2: I purchased the Olay, Secret and two Oral B battery toothbrushes.
I used $5.00 mq, 2 $3.00 mq, $6.98 in extra bucks for a total of $1.79 oop.
I received $7.00 in extra bucks

Over all it was a great trip. I spent $4.88 and got $10 in extra bucks
What did you get this week?

Publix trip #2 10/31

I made another trip to Publix over the weekend. Since there were no great deals at the drug stores this week I decided to spend my money at the grocery store. Robert had to run to Walmart so I decided to ride with him. I do not like Walmart so I had him drop me off at Publix which is just around the corner. I forgot the dog food on my first trip (on sale for  $9.99 and had a $2 mq) and wanted to use my $3.00 off the fried chicken family combo meal coupon that was expiring. I got that a few weeks ago when we attended the Bucs vs Saints football game. GO Saints!!! We love fried chicken so for only $7.59 we got enough for lunch on Sunday and Monday!
I wanted to pick up some more of the great freebies but didn't have much luck. The garden delight pasta was sold out but I did pick up a rain check and found some more blinkies for $1.00 off! I bought 2 more cascadian farms granola bars but they didn't have the peelies on them so I paid $1 a box instead of free, 2 more Quaker true delights but only one had a peelie so I paid .90 each. Have I told you how much I LOVE granola bars? This week I was able to replenish my stockpile, I was almost out!

I bought 4 oscar mayer carving board meats. I had a lot of different coupons for those....Publix, Target, Manufacturer so I only paid $1.25 each. I have never tried the carving board before. It is sliced thick. I am thinking we could use it for dinner some night, just heat up and serve with some mashed potatoes and veggies.

I found 2 more friskies coupons in my coupon box so I picked up two more bags of cat food for $1 each. Robert wanted a jar of pickled okra, that was not on sale but I found a .75 cent coupon.

Over all I saved 56%. Not to bad considering what I purchased :)

The best thing I like about couponing 10/28

The best thing I like about couponing is that I get to try items that I probably would never purchase at regular price but since using coupons on BOGO items make them super cheap I like to try new things. Each week I will post the new things that I purchased.
On this weeks trip I purchased Quaker True Delights Cafe Squares. Chewy granola squares. They are dark chocolate mocha hazelnut with a chocolatey drizzle. Just one word describes these YUMMO!  I have been fighting off all the candy deals this month since we don't get trick or treaters so these make for a great tasting treat. They normally sell for $2.79. They were on sale BOGO and had peelies for $1.00/1 on the box. I ended up paying only .79 cents for two boxes! That is a savings of 72%. I did not get paid to post this!

Cookies

The Toll House caramel filled chocolate chip cookies I mentioned in an earlier post today came out YUMMY! The caramel filling is piping hot right out of the oven so we had to wait for them to cool down a little before trying them.
These cookies are on sale for $2.79 BOGO this week at Publix. I used two manufacture coupons making them only .40 cents each. Some of them had peelies! I think I need to go back and get some more!!!!

The best thing I like about couponing

The best thing I like about couponing is that I get to try items that I probably would never purchase at regular price but since using coupons on BOGO items make them super cheap I like to try new things.
On my last shopping trip I purchased a few items that I have never tried before and thought I would let you know what I thought of them.
The Pepperidge Farm Double Chocolate Brownie cookies are to die for! I am glad I only bought one bag of them since they have 140 calories in each cookie! I paid .70 cents and they normally sell for $3.39. I would purchase again.
The Fruit2day juice was really good. I was a little surprised by the chunks of fruit in it. I should have read the bottle. Since these are made with 100% fruit it had 25 g of sugar in the little bottle which is one serving! I paid .50 cents and they normally sell for $2.99. I  did like this drink but I don't think I would purchase again because of all the carbs and sugar. I would rather just eat a piece of real  fruit.
The Pringles Xtreme Ragin' Cajun are super HOT! I love them :) I got these Free and they normally sell for $1.75. I will purchase again.
Today I will bake up the batch of Toll House Chocolate Chip cookies with Caramel filling and post later.
Is there any product that you have tried lately that you love?

Let me start by introducing my granddaughter Mia. She was outside playing with the water hose when I got home from shopping and just had to be in my shopping trip picture! It is still in the high 80's here in Central Florida!
Today's shopping was a good one! I saved 75% and found some of the new Harvest of Saving booklets.
I started by stopping by the customer service desk to ask if I could use my expired B2G1 Martha Stewart cleaning products coupons with my BOGO rain check. Publix is so awesome that of course they said yes!!! That meant that I purchased one for $3.99 and got the other 5 FREE!
Here is some of the other deals that I got:
Uncle Bens rice .50 each
Ragin Cajun Pringles FREE

I used my 2 Winn Dixie Catalinas from my previous post.

Do you see Mia's little chicken in the picture? She insisted!

Winn Dixie 10/24

I stopped at Winn Dixie to pick up some of the Kraft Homestyle Macaroni & Cheese that was on sale for $1.48. If you haven't had this yet you should try it, its really good! When I checked out I received 2 - $1.00 catalina coupons for my next purchase from Kraft!!! What a great deal. I think I will go back today and get a couple more!
Not pictured is my big splurg on steak. We had it on the grill before I even thought to take a picture. Three rib eyes on sale for $21!!! Yes that was the sale price. They tasted terrific so it was worth it!

CVS 10/24

Today I went to CVS to use up some of my ecb's (earn cash back coupons) that were going to expire.  In my haste I forgot to use some of my manufacture coupons!  I missed the kleenex and mars cvs coupon for the m&m's. I also forgot to check the TG Lee dairy website to see if I could print out the $1.00 coupon for the milk. I never buy cottonelle so I am sure I missed that coupon too!
I checked out the $100 oral b toothbrush but it didn't have the mail in rebate so I didn't get it. I could have purchased it for $5.00 with the 50% rebate, $30 ecb, $10 manufacture coupon and $5/$30 cvs coupon!
The store manager gave me the bigger pack of cottonelle for smaller pack that is on sale ($9.97) because they didnt get any in their shipment. I needed mouth wash and the CVS brand was on sale buy one, get one at 50% off and I got the case of water for $2.77 to bring my total up over the $30 total.
The clearance shelf was empty today:(

I used a $5/$30 cvs coupon
2 $1 off the arm and hammer total care (IP)
$8.00 in ecb.
Spent $17.12 oop
Saved $31.61 or 65%
Got $1.00 ecb for next week.
I probably could have saved another $3.00 if I checked my coupns better!!! Lesson learned.

Free Toaster Strudels

On Saturday I received my 4 coupons for free Toaster Strudels. I won these playing the Pillsbury  A million morning smiles game online. Go to http://strudelsmiles.pillsbury.com/. You can play once a day. I will save the coupons until the pastries go on BOGO sale, then I will get 8 free!!!

I had a $5/$30 coupon that needed using so I bought the Miralax for my mom since it was on sale. I didn't receive any good coupons from the red machine and nothing on the clearance shelf!

Miralax (big bottle) on sale $19.99 used $3.00 IP = $16.99
Razor on sale $8.99 used $4.00 coupon = $4.99
8 Mentos gum BOGO $1.79 and used 8 $1.00/1 = .84 money maker
I used the $5/30 coupon and 2 ecb totaling $11.98.

Wags trip 10/10

I have to admit I really don't like shopping at Walgreens. I went on Sunday to pick up a few cheap items and to use my Nivea rain check from last week. There was only one Nivea left again in the whole store but I had a great cashier who just changed my rain check so I could use it again.

 I purchased:
one Nivea for $1 and used $1 man. coupon = free
one halls cough drop for $1, used $1 q = free + $1.00 rr making it a money maker
two carefree liners $1.59, used in ad q to make them .99 cents and 1 $1.00/2 man. q = .49 cents each
one vicks syrup on clearance for $2.99, used $1.00 man. q

I spent $3.11 oop and received $1.00 register reward for the next trip. I saved $9.69 or 76%.

10/10 Saved $214 at CVS

Today I had the best trip ever to CVS!!!! I went for the free colgate, candy corn,  dawn dish soap and oatmeal using my coupons and came home with a car load! I did two transactions using two different cards. I saved $214.27, spent $20.07 oop, used $12.97 in ecb and received $18.96 ecb for next week. The clerk was just opening up the clearance boxes and started to dump it all in my cart. lol. I had to take stuff out, there was so much. I got arm &hammer dryer cloths for .46cents, three niveas for .29 cents each, stuffed animals for .49 cents, battery operated toothbrushes for $1.47, baby toothbrush .64, a ultra violet toothbrush cleaner case for $1.49 and 16 bottles of old spice body wash for .49 cents each. I usually never bring my coupon box to CVS but today I did. I was able to use coupons for the oral B toothbrushes, and old spice body washes. I had coupons for the total cereal and campbells soup. The M& M's were a filler to get to $25 so I could use my $5 off $25 coupon I got in an email. I didn't have any coupons for the milk or secret but I needed them and they were on sale.

Publix trip 10/7 Saved 65%

This week I bought a lot of groceries! I spent $69.39 and saved $129.25. That is the most I have spent in months on one trip. Most of the veggies were free using coupons from Target, kashi cereal and hidden valley. The pasta and the vitamins had peelies on them making them money makers when combined with the other coupons I had. I used 2 $2/1 farmhouse dressing coupons to make that a money maker too. I didn't have any coupon for the roarin water or life cereal. I ended up getting 6 martha stewart clean for the price of one. I have a few more coupons to get more but I wanted to see if I could find some with hang tags on them.  Next week I will try and keep track better track of the price and coupons used.

Construction has started!

Everyone keeps telling me I should start a blog so here it is! I have no idea what I am doing but I am sure I will learn fast. I created this blog to show how I save at the grocery store by using coupons.
Please keep in mind that I am not a writer just a coupon user trying to help others save money!
